Tsotsi explores the tension between language, perception and identity.

Through the portrait, LOK reflects on the word's associations with criminality while reclaiming its relationship to the streets - where culture, creativity, style and identity exist alongside the stereotypes imposed upon them.

The portrait becomes a reflection of the Kulture itself: complex, expressive and impossible to define through a single word.

WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC

The artwork has been translated into a premium jacquard tapestry, with the portrait and surrounding graphic elements woven directly into the cloth.

Using a jacquard loom, individual threads are precisely controlled to build the image into the textile. This creates depth, texture and subtle tonal shifts that give the artwork a physical quality that a conventional print cannot achieve.

The artwork isn't printed on the jacket. It is the jacket.

The cropped silhouette, structured collar and metal zip create a refined streetwear foundation for the highly detailed woven artwork.

Only 10 jackets have been created as part of the RK x LOK collaboration.

Each piece represents the intersection of contemporary African art, street culture, textile craftsmanship and wearable design.
